eRepublik has an efficient and streamlined economic system that provides a Free Market, yet there is still room for government entanglement and bureaucracy.
It is an accepted fact that all governments require income to function. Unfortunately, many factions take this to an extreme - imposing high taxes to fund government programs that could easily be funded by individuals.
The N.A.F.P. is not so naive as to promise little or no taxes, but we do support legislature to keep taxes as low as pragmatically possible.
Things such as the eAmerican Military and Low-Cost Social programs like Meals on Wheels should be funded, and even encouraged. However, other programs should not be operated at the expense of the economic well-being of the citizens and the Free Market.
